Stricker/Kelly Win 21st Annual Franklin Templeton Shootout By One

The 2009 Franklin Templeton Shootout concluded in exciting fashion as the team of Jerry Kelly & Steve Stricker held off J.B. Holmes & Kenny Perry to secure a one-shot victory. The fellow Wisconsin natives shot a final round 13-under par in the scramble format to finish with an overall score of 26-under.

Kelly & Stricker started the final round with a one-shot lead but found themselves trailing Holmes & Perry by a shot when the reached the par 5 17th hole. These teams quickly exchanged places on the leader board however as Holmes & Perry had to settle for par while Stricker sank a clutch eagle putt! Holmes & Perry had a chance to force a playoff on 18 but each narrowly missed their birdie attempts preserving Kelly & Stricker's lead and the title.

The victory was Stricker's first Shootout title and second for Kelly, who also won the 2006 event with teammate Rod Pampling. Kelly & Stricker split the 1st place prize of $750,000 for their efforts.
