NAPLES, Fla. (Oct. 15, 2010) - The Franklin Templeton Shootout, considered one of golf's most exciting events for 21 years, is offering free admission to active, reserve and retired military personnel and their families throughout the week of December 8-12 at Tiburón Golf Club at The Ritz-Carlton Golf Resort, Naples.
Members of any branch of the Armed Services may present their military identification at the main entrance to The Franklin Templeton Shootout starting Wednesday, December 8 and each day thereafter to receive grounds tickets for themselves and family members. All requests for military admission will be honored at the main gate. Tickets cannot be ordered ahead of time.
"This is our small way of showing appreciation for what these men and women have done and continue to do for us each and every day," said Tournament Host Greg Norman. "A golf tournament can be a relaxing way to spend the day. So, it is our hope those who have served or are currently active will come out and enjoy great golf and the beauty of Tiburón Golf Club."
Throughout its history, the Shootout has included many of golf's greatest players.
The field will consist of 24 professionals paired into 12 two-man teams. The Franklin Templeton Shootout, widely regarded as the PGA TOUR's premier post-season event, will once again feature a modified alternate-shot format during the first round, a better ball Saturday and a final-round scramble. This year, Golf Channel will televise Friday and NBC will broadcast the weekend competition.
