Free Family Golf Clinic To Feature Greg Norman, "The Trick Shot Master" Peter Johncke, And Youth Instruction Opportunities | |
NAPLES, Fla. (November 7, 2005) - The 17th annual Merrill Lynch
Shootout is pleased to announce a family-friendly experience at the conclusion of
the first round on Tiburón Golf Club's lush and expansive practice facility.
On Friday, November 11, the tournament gates will open to the public free of
charge at 2 p.m. allowing patrons the opportunity to enjoy the last hour of PGA
TOUR competition before the start of a two-hour family golf clinic that promises
to entertain people of all ages.
Sports fans also will have the opportunity to see the famous Stanley Cup at the
CureSearch booth in the expo area. In no other professional sport is a trophy
synonymous with excellence and tradition, teamwork and sacrifice as the 111-year-old trophy of the National Hockey League. For a $10 donation to
CureSearch fans will be able to take their own photo with the trophy.
School children from the Naples area will also present CureSearch National
Childhood Cancer Foundation with inspirational gifts for children who have
recently gone through chemotherapy.

The CureSearch Family Golf Clinic, which is scheduled to begin at 3:30 p.m., will
feature tournament host Greg Norman and Peter Johncke, "The Trick Shot
Master". Johncke performs near impossible and unusual variations of hitting a
golf ball. The fast-paced show will leave the audience electrified and excited. The
many variations of mystifying trick shots will be shown by using unique golf
equipment which includes a three-headed three-iron, a driver with a linked chain
shaft, a four-headed four-wood and an eight-foot driver.
"I am thrilled to have been asked to perform at The Franklin Templeton Shootout,
said Johncke. "Greg Norman and Merrill Lynch have really done great
things for children with cancer. The support that this event brings is absolutely
fantastic. Being a cancer survivor myself makes it very special that I have been
asked to perform."
Concessions, shuttle buses and expo vendors will remain operational through the
duration of the clinic. All parking will be located at the off site parking lot located
on Immokalee Road less than one mile east of Interstate 75.
This year's event will again feature an alternate-shot format during Friday's first
round, a better ball Saturday and a final-round scramble. USA Network will
televise Friday's coverage and CBS will handle broadcasting duties over the
weekend.
