NAPLES, Fla. -- Franklin Templeton Shootout host Laura
Norman and several other wives of the participating players in this year's
field visited The Children's Hospital of Southwest Florida in Fort Myers
Friday afternoon.
Proceeds from The Franklin Templeton Shootout go to the
National Childhood Cancer Foundation and The Children's Hospital is a
member institution of the NCCF Children's Oncology Group.
The TOUR wives toured the facility and spent time working
on arts and crafts with children currently undergoing cancer treatment at
the facility.
Each child received a baseball cap signed by Greg Norman.
"When Greg and I decided to start this tournament this
is just a small part of what we had in mind as a way to help children who
are in this position," says Mrs. Norman. "I am certainly grateful the other
ladies have opened their hearts, are unselfish with their time and
recognize the positives we can share with these children."
The Children's Hospital of Southwest Florida is part of
Lee Memorial Health System, which has been serving residents of Southwest
Florida for 87 years. The Children's Hospital is home to one of just nine
hematology/oncology centers in the state for infants and children diagnosed
with cancer and blood disorders.
According to Mike Ellis, Executive Director of The
Children's Hospital, "We're pleased Mrs. Norman is taking time to visit
with us to see, first-hand, the lifesaving care being provided right here
in Southwest Florida." He added, "Children from Collier County who are
battling cancer and serious blood disorders no longer have to travel hours
to receive the very finest medical care."
