The 2009 Shark Shootout concluded in exciting fashion as the team of Jerry Kelly & Steve Stricker held off J.B. Holmes & Kenny Perry to secure a one-shot victory. The fellow Wisconsin natives shot a final round 13-under par in the scramble format to finish with an overall score of 26-under.

Kelly & Stricker started the final round with a one-shot lead but found themselves trailing Holmes & Perry by a shot when the reached the par 5 17th hole. These teams quickly exchanged places on the leader board however as Holmes & Perry had to settle for par while Stricker sank a clutch eagle putt! Holmes & Perry had a chance to force a playoff on 18 but each narrowly missed their birdie attempts preserving Kelly & Stricker's lead and the title.

The victory was Stricker's first Shootout title and second for Kelly, who also won the 2006 event with teammate Rod Pampling. Kelly & Stricker split the 1st place prize of $750,000 for their efforts.

Kelly & Stricker's win capped off a successful 21st edition of The Shark Shootout that treated Southwest Florida golf fans and television viewers around the world to three days of team competition. The duo will return to Tiburón Golf Club at The Ritz-Carlton Golf Resort, Naples next December 8 - 12 to defend its title!
